Grandma and Grandpa Schroeder here. We arrived in Switzerland on Sunday, May 7th to start the party week. Grandma Marlene carried seven pounds of cake mixes and powdered sugar from the US to have the right supplies! All the cakes were perfect!
Jess has been our wonderful host and chauffer (we were impressed how he handles the mountainous curves). After all the cakes were made, we took a cruise across lake Geneva to Evian, France (where the water is made), one day to visit the beautiful castle Chillon on Lake Geneva, and another day to the Olympic Museum. On Friday, after checking the map in French and texting the cleaning lady in Portuguese, we journeyed to Bern, the German -speaking capitol of Switzerland and took a walking tour of the city. Saturday we sampled Swiss fondue and raclette in the beautiful town of Gruyere. The highlight of the day was the Callier chocolate factory, especially the tasting room.
Grandma’s main assignment for the week was teaching Sadie and Mckenna to sew. Sadie made a bag and a skirt (which she wore to school) and McKenna made a pillow. Success!!!
Mother’s Day and McKenna’s birthday were celebrated having brunch in the breathtaking Swiss Alps, followed by a pool party with ten 14 -year-old girls!
What a week! We’ll be back!
